WILL E. JACKSON: Serge Modular System #1, guitar & voice
STEFAN “Z’EV” WEISSER: Universal Percussion System
Erratum Musical, Studio Forum and C.A.R.E. are very pleased to announce the release of this groundbreaking historical LP from 1976 recorded in Los Angeles. First ever recordings of sounds by Serge Modular System + Z’EV + Will Jackson!
TO was founded in 1976 in San Francisco by Will E. Jackson (1945-2019) & Stefan “Z’EV” Weisser (1951-2017), occasionally performing under the code name “Center for Inter-Species communication”.
The real missing link between works by California’s modular synthesizers pioneers, the industrial music explosion of the mid 70s and the early new age interspecies communication protocols.
This is a mesmerizing trip record at its finest, which original masters on magnetic tapes have just been rediscovered.

In 2021, Wilfried Wendling offered a 3-day residency to Marion Camy-Palou at the Muse en Circuit (Alfortville / Paris), a working time which then has evolved into a 2-year cruise dedicated to the Serge Modular System (offered by Jean Claude Eloy at the Muse). This search finally resulted in a concert in April 2023, and this record - Deeat Palace's debut album.
'Pièces pour Serge' offers two intense pieces, cut in 45 rpm for vinyl to allow a deeper sonic dive into the heart of the bowels of a synthesizer that has become legendary and which celebrated its 50th anniversary in 2023.
note : a series of albums produced with the 'Serge Modular Music System#1' (first Serge synth modules built at Cal Arts in 1973 by Will Jackson under the direction of Serge Tcherepnin and now restored and in use in Annecy/Fr at C.A.R.E.) will be published later.

Cia Rinne is a Swedish conceptual poet who lives in Berlin. She writes in a dual tradition of European sound poetry. Polyglot – she alternates English, French, Italian and German with a playful approach to concrete poetry archetypes with puns, visual gags, materiality of language, and effects of meaning. This LP brings out humorous linguistic permutations into sound through sonic compositions and minimal vocal repetitive works.

Urusoneto is a sound work by the french artist Wladimir Schall based on the Ursonate, also known as Sonata in Urlauten or the "Sonate of primitive sounds", a phonetic poem composed between 1922 and 1932 by Kurt Schwitters and influenced by his meeting with Raoul Hausmann in 1921 in Prague, where he saw him reciting his poem "FMSBW".
Wladimir Schall did not start reciting the poem himself, but preferred to entrust the task to "someone else": the japanese voice of google translate. Thus, Schall puts in tension two registers that everything separates a priori : that of human phrasing, primitive and brutal, with that of the most elaborate artificial intelligence - supposedly. This diverted synthetic Japanese voice gives here a new prosody, sharp, hypnotic and far from yet another classic human interpretation of the ursonate. Temporality is also transformed, because Google does not like silence. No pauses, no breaths, the AI blasts the onomatopoeia in delirious rows in a new glossolalia, even an exalted mediumistic xenoglossy, ultralanguage that makes one think of an AI possessed, but by whom, by what? It is here the alterity of the subject to itself, it is the inclusion of the ‘Other’ who speaks through this recording. But then, who are we really listening to? Who is the artist or what form of consciousness speaks, recites, sings here? Glossolalia comes from the depths of time via tibetan shamanism and the ural steppes in russia, taking all sorts of forms. Multi-dimensional channeling, proto possession / post-Pentecostal cults, transcendental approach to AI, primordial inter-ethnic and mythological sounds... all theories collide and are equal. Let’s just listen - because a voice is a way, and the articulations of phonemes associated with an intention reveal magical mysteries that still elude us.

Wladimir Schall - Urusoneto - LP - Erratum Musical 029 - Ltd edition of 150
----

Eduard Escoffet is a Catalan sound poet. Born in Barcelona, for more than 20 years he has been touring all over Europe and America in poetry and experimental music festivals performing his delicate yet precise and sensual poetry actions layered with repetitive patterns rooted both in techno culture and classic sound poetry. He has also organised different poetry festivals from the 1990s (PROPOSTA, Barcelona Poesia, ReVox and Poesia i +, among others).
Bastida is his first solo LP. Recorded mostly during 2021, it includes vocal experiments and improvisations shaping a language landscape where voice and body meet sound poetry through the mouth, all inspired by some of his masters: Demetrio Stratos, Carles Santos, bp nichol, Joan La Barbara and Bernard Heidsieck.

---
"Oral painter and word carver », Michel Giroud aka Gerwulf El Coyote has been a major figure in action poetry since the 1970s. His work takes the fragmented form of books, readings, actions, interventions, meetings, circles and magazines. He thus realizes an old project that he named in 1990 Patata (patatology) or PTT (Totally Total Poetry) where all these activities are articulated in a sphere in permanent movement. In 1991, he founded the Nomadic University and in May 1997 the festival ‘Mille voix / 1000 voies’ and the encyclopedia of the Eternal Network. Test writer, tyre artist, oral painter, long-distance speed runner, word carver, he appears in the form of El Coyote and werewolf as an archaic singer of scream-singing. Gerwulf, founder and guardian of the Imperium Angelicum Magnificum (IAM) is the Carolingian ancestor of the Dauphinois Michel Giroud, historian and theoretician of the avant gardes, author of essays on Audiberti, Nougaro, Vostell, Haussmann, Gette, Filliou. In parallel with his work as an artist and performer, Michel Giroud is a publisher, he founded the collections L'oeil Absolu au Chêne, Projectoires à Champ Libre, Trajectoires at Jean-Michel Place and the collection L'Ecart absolu at Presses du Réel, which he has directed since 1998.

A joined adventure by Erratum Musical (Paris) and Sonhoras (Barcelona). Precious cut and sound edition, along with beautiful artisan work made by hand in letterpress print.
PROTOVERB is the vinyl debut LP from multifaceted poet and musician Martin Bakero - who is mainly exploring the boundaries between sound, meaning, music, poetry, trance and psychiatry. He creates all this vocal material directly, with electroacoustics and hand made electronics, then spatializes it and makes it visible and tangible. From the first creative breath, he utters sentences, words, syllables and even more and more ‘’protoverbal’’ sounds and noises, in an attempt to propose a new relationship between real and imaginary, between words and things, sounds and meaning.
This is the space where the first archetypal sounds (breath, voice, verb) embedded in human collective unconscious got a twist and spread their swirling mysterious creative energy, where music and poetry can’t be split and divided anymore.
PROTOVERB is a rare « sound poetry » record, transcending the genre and bringing very ancient pneuma practices into a fresh joy and understanding about life and how reality manifests.
Limited edition of 300 copies, numbered all of them.
Poems, sounds and music: Martin Bakero, with the complicity of Joachim Montessuis on production and mix.
Realized in Paris and Barcelona, pre, during and post covid.
Mastered and cut by Frederic Alstadt / Angström Mastering, Brussels.

NACRE is the side guitar solo project of Marion Camy-Palou (Paris/FR). After years of experimentations under different projects (DEAAT PALACE, Oktober Lieber), Marion Camy-Palou is back here with the NACRE noise project with only her electric guitar.
This record consists of raw, furious, long and immersive pieces, with the sole purpose of immersing the listener in an emotional and physical experience. Improvised pieces are made up of saturated, dense, fluid and stretched sonic guitar outbursts pushed to the extreme. Between psychedelic harsh noise, cathartic drones and abrasive sound mantras.

Second issue of VOXXX serie has arrived, VOXXX02 is published by Erratum Musical / Paris and Sonhoras / Barcelona.
IN/CANTI is the new meta-poem from multilingual and polysonic voice artist Maja Jantar. This LP delivers two magnificent subtle and sensorial haunting pieces of free tonal modulations, exploring the voice as a tool to create musical textures shifting from vocal layered tones and vivid harmonics to free sound poetry channeling inner and outer streams of imaginary landscapes - where poetry walks into the eld of contemporary music.
Maja Jantar is a multilingual and polysonic voice artist living in Finland after long period in Belgium, whose work spans the fields of performance, music theatre and opera, poetry and visual arts. A co-founder of the group Krikri, she has been giving individual and collaborative performances throughout Europe and experimenting with poetic sound works since 1995. Born as daughter of opera singers, she spends her childhood travelling through Europe with her mother, enters and exits various languages, cultures; nomadic migrant, balances between the opera world and playing in her grandma’s garden, between ducks, sheep and sunset. Distant Tartar decendance echo’s in her soundings – weaving the operatic, poetic, abstract influences together to vocal sound works that landscape into performance. From 2001 to present, Jantar has directed ten operas, including Monteverdi's classic Incoronatione di Poppea and Sciarrino's contemporary Infinito Nero. Her work invites to enter the field of the imaginary, the inner world, the inner stream, the shamanistic, enchanting, prophetic. Circumventing the stage of the rational, in an attempt to enter through the back door of the intuitive.

Henri Chopin came to perform in Besançon in 1995 at Garage Caméléon the birthplace of Erratum Musical activities and the label. People involved were Michel Giroud (who introduced Henri Chopin to us and helped to publish “Poésie Sonore Internationale”), Joachim Montessuis, Yvan Etienne and Masahiro Handa. This place used to be a 300m2 garage where we lived, worked and organised noise performances and poetry actions from 1993 to 1998. When Henri Chopin arrived, he was 72 years old, calm and slow, and was delighted to meet a younger generation interested in sound art and electronic sound poetry experiments. He brought his tapes and we rented a powerful sound system that would be perfect to fill all of the space with his mouth noises. He then asked us to project the sound and follow his gestures concerning volumes and dynamic panning, and the resulting high pitch echos and feedback intensity along with the slowly melting speakers (audible here) gave him an incredible excitation and joy that we all could witness - and it was a contagious enthousiasm. Direct energy ! Later in 2004 Henri Chopin gave us two tapes to release, the first one was for the CD “La danse des tonneaux roulants et brisés” and the second one was “Les gouffres des bronches sont des cavernes infinies”, which was aired for the first time on France Culture radio in 2013 thanks to Thomas Baumgartner. Henri Chopin was born in 1922, this LP is echoing his 100th anniversary and celebrates the passion he channeled and transmitted to many artists along his life and beyond.

Available here : erratum.bandcamp.com/album/knvf Following the release of her 2018 solo tape, Ggggg (Anticausal Systems), vocalist Charmaine Lee returns with her debut LP, KNVF, for Erratum Musical (Paris, France). In just two years, the album marks a considerable evolution from the austere concentration of Ggggg towards expansive sonic worlds. Inspired by the arcs of popular music, Charmaine freely and fearlessly navigates a wide range of aesthetics, digging beneath each surface to disclose a highly personal sense of musicality. Microphones of varying fidelities, contact mics placed on the throat, and amplified hair combs are used to simulate polyphony and a dialogue between the inner and outer body. With Charmaine’s unique vocal articulations atop a bed of feedback and extreme frequencies, form follows expression in an ever-evolving context built on the traditions of noise, vocal, and improvised music. KNVF is a powerful statement in modern vocal music and a thrilling new development in Charmaine‘s artistry that will reward those who listen for the journey. Charmaine Lee (b. 1991) is a New York-based vocalist from Sydney, Australia. Her music is predominantly improvised, favoring a uniquely personal approach to vocal expression concerned with spontaneity, playfulness, and risk-taking. Beyond extended vocal technique, Charmaine uses amplification, feedback, and microphones to augment and distort the voice. She has performed with leading improvisers Nate Wooley, id m theft able, C. Spencer Yeh, and Ikue Mori, and maintains ongoing collaborations with Conrad Tao, Victoria Shen, Zach Rowden, and Eric Wubbels. Charmaine has performed at ISSUE Project Room, the Kitchen, Roulette, The Poetry Project, and MoMA PS1, and participated in festivals including Resonant Bodies, Huddersfield Contemporary, and Ende Tymes. Her work has been featured in group exhibitions including The Moon Represents My Heart: Music, Memory and Belonging at the Museum of Chinese in America (2019). As a composer, Charmaine has been commissioned by the Wet Ink Ensemble (2018) and Spektral Quartet (2018). In 2019, she was an Artist-in-Residence at ISSUE Project Room and is currently a 2021 Van Lier Fellow at Roulette. Charmaine is a member of the Editorial Board of Sound American. Two intense tracks from New York based noise artist, sonic multitasks master and festival organiser (the famous Ende Tymes every year in NYC, as well as working for years at Issue Project Room). Bob Bellerue creates living visceral sonic organisms with feedback and amplification in specific resonant spaces, using electronics, voices or even Supercollider, resulting in massive wild evolving and mutating drones into outbursts of noise deflagrations - a tension between hellish tellurism and multidimensional discoveries.

Finally available fully on vinyl, here are the famous 'Phonetic poems' from Dadaist Raoul Hausmann - remastered from original tapes and for the first time with the correct track titles along with a 40 pages booklet including typescripts and texts. This LP is published on the occasion of the exhibition Raoul Hausmann and European Experimental Poetry (1945–1971). Musée d’art contemporain de la Haute-Vienne, château de Rochechouart.
The 'Phonetic poems" were conceived in 1918, simultaneously and without much knowing with the russian futurists discoveries of Khlebnikov et Iliazd - with the cosmic sorcerer and trans-rational language 'Zaoum' (1913), Hugo Ball at Cabaret Voltaire (Karawane, 1916), then Kurt Schwitters (Ursonate, 1922).
All these artists-poets were inventors (or re-discoverers) of a mediumnic ultralanguage where primordial inter-ethnic and mythological sounds precede meanings, in order to redefine human communication and to connect to the multi-dimensional.
Foreshadows of sound poetry and performative action poetry, these 'Phonetic Poems' are still there, miraculously preserved thanks to some recordings made in 1955 by the house of Philips, then 1959 by Bureau and in 1966 by Henri Chopin, in Limoges where Hausmann had settled in 1944.
All tracks remastered and cut by Frederic Alstadt in 2019 at Ångström Mastering, Bruxelles. Graphic design : Jean-Baptiste Parre. Documentary Research : Chantal François-Texier. Text : Michel Giroud.

Three years after the danceable field recordings of her "L'Ange Le Sage" debut LP and nine months post its initial cassette edition by Coherent States, the parisian sound artist, activist and musician Gaël Segalen delivers her third album, "Sofia Says", picking up where her "Memoir of My Manor" cassette left off. Gaël connects here to a complex mythological entity, Sofia, in a spontaneous mediumnic way - and through her own filtered integration she presents a dynamic sample of her compositional psyche, creating a compelling mixture of abstract noise experimentations, field recordings and ecstatic electronic manipulation.

Seven tracks recorded between 2012 and 2019 with a "Boîte à Bourdons/Drone Box”, a mechanical electroacoustic hurdy-gurdy with four strings and sliders to play an adjustable chord in sustained twisted tones, drones and complex overtones - plus one duet with Gaspar Claus on cello.
Recorded and composed in Paris at Sophia & Baphomet studios, mastered (for vinyl AND for digital) and cut by DK mastering.

This LP brings together two extreme and loud vocal performers digging and channeling invisible realities through electronically expanded proto languages.
This is an experimental non-dual approach to reality: clashes and crashes into extatic trances.

REALITY (realityfilm.co.uk) had the honour of working with pioneering electronic composer Zbigniew Karkowski on two occasions.
In 2007, as part of the Recording Angel Ensemble's accompaniment to Wojciech Has' film "The Saragossa Manuscript" at the National Film Theatre and finally, for the last time on the 31st October 2013 when, already gravely ill after learning that he had advanced pancreatic cancer, Karkowski premiered his music to the BBC 1954 teleplay production of George Orwell's "1984 - The Last Man in Europe" at London's Horse Hospital.
It was to be his last public performance.Zbigniew died aged 55, just six weeks later on Thursday December 12th in the jungles of Peru where he had travelled seeking treatment with the Shaman healers of the Shipibo."Where language ends music begins" Zbigniew Karkowski March 14, 1958 - December 12, 2013

NEW CRIUM DELIRIUM ERRATUM COYOTE CIRCUS is the combination work of old freak Lionel Foxx Magal (from Crium Delirium, early obscure french freaks 70’s live psych band) with the weirdest manic french sound poet and avant-gardes publisher and activist Michel Giroud-Coyote-Gerwulf, and sonic vocalist Joachim Montessuis.
Two tracks of intense psychøtrance vocals and electronics, digging the OM down to the bone.

«Fill My Body With Flowers And Rice» is Kemp‘s first full-length release to vinyl - a compelling work of more than 40 minutes, including two collaborations with Rudolf Eb.er (Schimpfluch, Runzelstirn & Gurgelstock).
The album provides a stirring and intimate insight not only into AK‘s unique world of obscure, tense and delicate sounds, but also into one of the UK‘s most exceptional artists of today.

This was a unique performance in the cathedral’s history and an important performance for Charlemagne Palestine, showing him at his best, slowly developing a wild crescendo and filling the gigantic space with his own ritual full of trance and ecstasy.
2015 marks the millennium of Strasbourg Cathedral.

After "Sleeping Beauty" in 2002, here is the second SOLO album from the ultimate japanese voice!
Very rare. The scream beyond all screams, the most incredible intensity within its simplest aspect.
Two years in the making, here it is finally, "THE VOID", a minimal masterwork with two tracks recorded in Paris : the first one with a raw direct naked voice approach - yet very clear and unheard as JUNKO has never recorded her full voice this way,
and a second track with all of JUNKO's voice frequencies pushed to extremes for a wild excessive vocal trance.
Minimal, repetitive, obsessional : this is one of the keys to enter THE VOID.
Recorded, mixed and mastered by Joachim Montessuis in Paris between may 2013 and august 2014 at MDE studios

Rudolf Eb.er has released more than 100 CD's and albums internationally, and is considered as one of the leading artists in the noise and experimental vocal scene.
Born austrian and grew swiss, he is expert in scientific illustration, martial and therapeutic arts, and is founder of the audio-artists and aktionist collective 'SCHIMPFLUCH' in 1987.
Early sonic studies examined the importance of timing, the power of silence, and developed shocking and confusing-precise cut-up compositions, 'aural alchemism', of documented extreme-situations, psycho-field-recordings, and direct actionism - an actionism of the unexpected.
Regarded as 'art-brut shamanist', Eb.er's path leads down thru the unconscious, deepest regions of human psyche and animal instinct.
Abreactive outbursts arranged in the high art of timing, as mediated in disciplines such as kung-fu, confront all senses with existence - and open up the way to the higher being.
'RUNZELSTIRN & GURGELSTØCK' is another name for Eb.er's psycho-active audio-art and 'psycho-physical tests and trainings', performed and produced global.
Eb.er, currently living in Japan, increasingly focus his 'purification rituals' on breathing exercices, concentrated chi-energy and shifting psycho-magic to enter the super-consciousness, the nondualist awareness of 'ultimate reality'.
EXTREME RITUALS contains two raw surgical wild tracks of 17 minutes, masterworks of intensity.
Recorded and decomposed by Rudolf Eb.er in Osaka in 2011

European Sound Delta is a travelling artistic residency that took place during 3 months during the summer of 2008 : two canal boats simultaneously navigated upstream on the Rhine and Danube rivers from the North Sea and the Black Sea to finally meet in Strasbourg.
On board and in each of the stopover cities, thirty international artists were invited to record their sound environment (field recordings, interviews, electromagnetic and sub-aquatic spheres...) and to use the shared sound materials to compose pieces and produce live concerts along the itinerary.

Poetry of sound / sound of poetry.
Erratum brings together personalities both atypical and unclassifiable : outriders, stalkers, survivors of the sonic crash zone, those transgressing the strictures and clichés of unimaginative sound habits.
Visual and sonic artists, bards, iconoclastic noise makers come together to create a subtle, hybrid, ever-changing, disseminated collective sonic psyche. From the time of Marcel Duchamp's Musical Erratum and Luigi Russolo's Art of Noises in 1913 to the latterday recuperation of software bugs, crashes, along with the eclectic array of contemporary poetical noise praxis, there is a rich, complex and poorly understood history.
Erratum's aim is not so much to associate poetry and music as to seek out their potential to merge : the crossovers, the openings, the interzones, meetings and fault lines, the ineffable yet tangible open fusion, that blends the different vibrations of voice, noise and electronics.
Erratum weaves a lively and diagonal concretion, an alternative to restrictive and mechanical technological visions and it stands out as a realm of a possible Utopia of the indivisible that leads towards active questioning.
